I love pasta.
(Why can’t I love kale and spinach the way I love pasta?!)
But I don’t have a ton of pantry storage space in my kitchen. Which presented a problem.
So we decided to use a little bit of the wall space between the kitchen and dining room for an open shelving unit to store pantry items. An area where we could display our “pretty” pantry items within easy reach of the kitchen.
Here’s how it turned out:

Pot holders, vitamins, and bibs

On the very top shelf, we added three baskets for these essentials. Up until now, these things have not had a good home, and these baskets have been so handy.

I especially love having the vitamins up high where only the adults can reach them. It’s also nice to have them so close by the dining room table for easy access each morning.
Pasta organization

We filled these clear glass containers with all of our favorite pastas, and added a label to each one. Easy peasy.

I used the smaller glass containers for other essentials like rice and breadcrumbs on the next shelf down.
(Any overflow dry goods are stored in our full pantry in the basement, which you can see here.)

You can find the exact set of containers that I used here, or check out some of these other cool options:

Our “This Week” basket

On the next shelf, we have two baskets: one for condiments, and one labeled This Week.

This is where we store ingredients that we know we’re going to be using right away- for meals that we have planned for this week. It’s super handy to have all those ingredients ready to go in one spot!

Play kitchen items

I use the lowest two shelves to help contain all of the play kitchen items, like our tea party supplies and play food. We love keeping these items in the dining room. That way, when we cook, our toddler can “cook” along with us.

And that’s our mini-pantry and pasta display! What do you think?
Hopefully I’ve inspired you to get creative with your own space. Happy organizing!
