Simple solutions to help calm the chaos of motherhood

LEGO Storage Drawers: How to Organize Legos for Kids

As a mom of 4 kids, I have quite a bit of experience with how to organize Legos.

And we’ve tried everything.

I’ve learned that how you organize your Legos depends on how your kids play with their Legos- which can change. So it requires flexibility.

Here is one system that I’ve found to be really effective for a kid who loves to build sets, play with them, take them apart, and build them all over again, over and over:

Drawer Sets:

This system is great for a kids who loves to build sets over and over because each drawer can hold its own set- including instructions- no matter what state it’s in: pieces, half-built, or complete.

There are also a variety of drawer sizes, so you can store different sized sets easily without feeling like you’re wasting space.

I cut out pieces of each box and used them to label the different drawers.

I also created a “found pieces” drawer so that when I find pieces lying around the house, and I can’t tell which set they belong to, I have somewhere to put them.

Here’s what the large drawers look like. They can hold a ton:

And my older kids can store these drawer sets up high, where my toddler can’t easily get into them!
