When my son, Andrew, moved out of his crib and into a big-boy room, we decided to theme the room after his favorite thing in the world: construction trucks!
A construction-themed bedroom
We didn’t go crazy- just a few pictures here, some construction bedding there, and- my favorite- a construction truck themed book display right over his bed.
(Click here to see the rest of Andrew’s construction themed toddler room.)
Andrew loves to pull these books down and read them before bed, and I’m planning to keep switching the books out every so often to keep things interesting.
Maybe we’ll switch to a fire engine theme next, or check out a bunch of airplane books from the library and display them here.
But for now, we have all of his favorite construction truck books displayed here. Scroll down to see which books we chose to include:

This book is my personal favorite from this shelf. It tell the story of a Mommy cat that works at a construction site. In the end, her kittens come to surprise her with a picnic at the new playground she just helped to build.

This is a short read (just a few words per page) that toddlers will love. The mixed-up truck accidentally mixes up flour and sugar instead of cement, and ends up making a cake!

We love this book, as well as Mighty Mighty Construction Site, and Construction Site Mission: Demolition! These books are the longest books that my 2 year old will listen to all in one sitting. He loves to name the different construction vehicles on each page, and I’m always amazed by his level of focus when we read one of them.

My son loves all of the great construction sound words in this story. It’s another short one- a great length for toddlers. At the end of the story, you find out that the building they were working on was a new library.

All 3 of my kids have this book memorized. It is so clever, well-written, and sweet at the same time, that we went out and bought the plane and train version as well. They are all so good!
Do you have any favorite construction books that I didn’t include in our book display? Put them in the comments! I’d love to add to our collection. 😉
And if you’re interested in fire truck books as well, you can see our favorites for those here. 🙂
Thank you so much for reading!
