Christmas bucket list: 30 activities for your family

Christmas is all about spending time with your family, and appreciating your loved ones.

Thank you, Hallmark.

But seriously, there are so many fun memories to be made during this season.

So I created a Christmas bucket list specifically for families with kids. It’s full of activity ideas that will make Christmas even more special for you and your family.

Oh, and don’t forget to download a printer-friendly version of your Christmas bucket list below.

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas bucket list: 30 ideas for families

1. Bake Christmas cookies

If you’re feeling crazy, let everyone in the family pick a different type, and make them all!

2. Drive around and look at Christmas lights

Bring along hot chocolate, or go through a drive-through to grab some on your way.

3. Make a gourmet hot chocolate bar

Include whipped cream, marshmallows, and caramel syrup!

4. Cut down (or set up) your Christmas tree

5. Wear matching Christmas pajamas

We love to give the kids new Christmas pajamas on Thanksgiving night. You can also have a fun photo shoot in your new pajamas.

6. Have a sleepover under the Christmas tree

I have to admit, we’ve never done this one before. But this year might be our first time to pull out the sleeping bags and fall asleep to a Christmas movie in the living room. 🙂

7. Watch a Christmas movie

or 10. 😉

8. Decorate your house, inside and out

9. Ask everyone to contribute their favorite songs to a Christmas playlist

10. Decorate the Christmas tree

11. Send Christmas cards

Let your kids help by coloring Christmas pictures to include. (We have a set of Christmas stamps that are perfect for making little ones feel included.)

12. Set out milk and cookies for Santa

13. Make a Christmas craft

14. Shop for a special Christmas dinner

Let everyone pick a favorite dish, and put it all together.

15. Give a gift to someone in need

16. Attend a Christmas Eve service

17. Make paper snowflakes

18. Have a fire in the fireplace

Or, if the weather is nice, a bonfire outside. Don’t forget the marshmallows!

19. Read the Christmas story from the Bible

20. Watch the Nutcracker on TV

21. Wrap presents

Kids love to help! Who cares if the presents don’t look perfect? You’re making memories.

22. Read your favorite Christmas books

Check out my list of favorite Christmas books for preschoolers here, or my favorite books for babies and toddlers here.

23. Eat candy canes

24. Learn about Christmas around the world

25. Burn a Christmas scented candle

26. Make a gingerbread house

We use graham crackers instead of gingerbread. It tends to be a little easier for small hands. 😉

27. Bundle up and go for a winter walk

28. Make Christmas candy

Or just dip things into chocolate, like pretzels or crackers.

29. Hang up stockings

30. Donate to a local food bank

I hope you enjoy these special Christmas ideas. Don’t forget to download your printable list, or save the list to Pinterest below.
