As a Christian, it’s important to me to teach my kids about God, and for them to learn about the Bible.
But how exactly do you do that when your kids are very young?
Our kids are currently 2, 5, and 7, and today I wanted to share with you some of the devotions, books, CDs, and other resources that we have loved sharing with them, even at every young ages, to help them learn about God.
And if you have some favorites that aren’t on this list, be sure to scroll down and leave a comment! I’d love to discover some new great resources for family devotions time as well. 🙂

Indescribable: 100 Devotions about God & Science
Age: 6-10 years
We started reading these devotions with my daughter when she was 6. Each one is 2 pages long. Each one includes fascinating facts about science as well as truths about God.
We loved it so much that we also bought another book in the series: How Great is Our God. We have been thoroughly enjoying that one so far, as well.
NIV Adventure Bible
Age: 8-12 years
When our oldest daughter learned to read, we wanted to give her a full copy of the Bible (not just a story Bible.)
My mother-in-law has been a Sunday School teacher for most of her life, and has seen every version of kids’ Bible that there is. She recommended this one for beginning readers because there are fun facts or colored pictures on nearly every page, which makes it really fun for kids.
Favorite Parables from the Bible
Age: 4-8 years
The age range for this book is 4-8, but we read it to my 2 year old, and he loves it!
The book contains simplified versions of many of the parables of Jesus, along with fun, and somewhat goofy pictures on every page.
Each page contains only a sentence or two, which is perfect for the attention spans of really little ones.
Adventures in Odyssey
Adventures in Odyssey are 20 minute audio stories that kids can listen to. Each one is filled with Biblical truths and lessons.
We started listening to these in the car when our girls were about 4 and 6, although there are a few episodes in the series that deal with more mature issues that I wouldn’t recommend for kids that young.
You can buy these as CDs, audio downloads, or sign up for a streaming service to listen to them. They are great for road trips!
Slugs & Bugs Sing the Bible
I am a huge fan of Slugs & Bugs music. There are 4 Sing the Bible CDs so far, and they are all fantastic. Each song is a different Bible verse (or group of verses) and they are super catchy and well-done.
It’s a great way for your kids (and you!) to memorize Scripture.
Everything a Child Should Know about God
This book is a series of short devotions that answer questions like, “Who wrote the Bible?” and “What is sin?” in simple terms and child-friendly language.
Seeds Family Worship
These CDs are another set of Bible verses set to song. Again, a great way to commit Scripture to memory, both for kids and for adults.
The Beginner’s Bible Sticker & Activity Books
There are a few of these sticker activity books in the series, and we love them. They’re good quality, and full of fun activities on every page to make learning about the Bible super fun and hands-on for kids.
Do you have any other favorite Christian devotions for kids that you don’t see on the list? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to add on to our list. 🙂
