As a 4th time mom, I feel like I’ve finally figured out what I truly need in my diaper bag, versus the extras that I can probably get away with leaving at home.
I currently have a newborn, and a toddler, and this is everything that is in my minimalist diaper bag:

For a newborn:
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Changing pad
- A bag for dirty clothes/diapers (I like these because they have 2 waterproof pockets- in a pinch you can use one for a dirty diaper and one for dirty clothes)
- Change of clothes
- Burp cloth
- Nursing pads
- Diaper cream
- Hand sanitizer
- A pacifier
For a toddler:
- Pull-ups or extra underwear
- A change of clothes
- Snacks
Sometimes items
Depending on the season, or where we’re going, I will sometimes also include:
- A small blanket (if we’re going to the doctor’s office- these fold up really small)
- Our diaper bag
Since I’m really not carrying too much around with me, I don’t need an enormous diaper bag. 🎉
Here’s the one that I have instead. It’s perfect for organizing just the essentials.
I love the compact size, and the easy velcro stroller straps. 👍
