Are you looking for a fun way to make your Christmas cards stand out this year? Then a Christmas card infographic would be perfect for you!
What is a Christmas card infographic?
For the past several years, I’ve created infographics about our family to add to our Christmas cards. It’s a short, sweet, visual way for me to share a little bit with friends and family members that we may not have seen in a while about what’s going on in our lives.
I usually order a regular photo card, and just add the infographic image to the back. That way I get to share a few pictures along with a fun family update.

Want to make your own?
Here’s how to make your own personalized Christmas card infographic:
1. Pick a program
Choose a program to create your infographic. You can use any number of different programs, so I would suggest picking something you’re already familiar with, if possible.
I created the infographic above using PicMonkey– a paid photo editing website. But in the past, I’ve used something as simple as a Word document. I’ve also used Canva and PiktoChart before- all great options.
2. Make a list of the important info you want to include
Here are a few basics I recommend:
- A heading or greeting at the beginning
- The names and ages of your kids
- Major news updates from the year (job changes, graduations, moves, pregnancies or births, vacations)
- Important numbers- like how many years you’ve been married or the number of hours you spent in the car on your last road trip
- A closing at the end
3. Have fun
Add a few less-serious pieces of news, like a funny stat or a goofy anecdote. Share how great your house smelled after your toddler dumped an entire bag of coffee grounds on the living room carpet. Or your personal record for the most bedtime readings of Goodnight Moon.
4. Keep it simple
Make it as easy to read as possible. Write short blurbs rather than long sentences. Don’t let your infographic get too crowded.
5. Make it pretty
Add some graphics and clipart. Consider using one or two major colors in order to keep everything simple and cohesive. You can also make your words stand out by changing fonts, colors and sizes. Play around with it until it looks the way you want it to.
When you’re happy with your infographic, add them to your Christmas cards.
You can print your infographic yourself and stick it in with your Christmas card.
Or (my favorite option) save your infographic as an image. Then upload it to any website that creates custom Christmas cards. We did a traditional Christmas card on the front, and uploaded our infographic as a full-sized image on the back.
Your friends and family will be sure to love the unique update on your lives. Now it’s time to mail those cards. (Be sure to use my digital Christmas card list template to make that process even easier.)
