If you choose to breastfeed, chances are that you will be spending many, many hours snuggled up with your little one, nursing. So why not be prepared ahead of time with an organized basket of all the breastfeeding supplies you’ll need to make those hours as comfortable and relaxing as possible?

Today, I’m so excited to share with you my favorite breastfeeding supplies, and to show you how a little organization can make all those feedings (yes, even the nighttime ones!) that much better.
The essentials:
The first step is to gather your supplies. Here’s a list of all of my *very most favorite* breastfeeding supplies.
- Nursing stool: This stool can be adjusted to three different heights/angles, and it really puts your legs in the perfect position to support your baby. I LOVE it.
- A blanket or robe for you, if you’re like me and get a little chilly at night.
- A throw pillow to support your baby during feedings.
- Boppy nursing pillow: Some people find nursing pillows more comfortable than a normal pillow. I usually keep this down in my living room for daytime feedings, and just use the throw pillow at night since the arms of the recliner I use at night keep my arms pretty propped up anyway.
- Tissues
- A touch-activated light: This is probably my favorite thing on this list. During nighttime feedings, I don’t always want to turn on the lamp which basically lights up the entire room, so I just use this little light to see what I’m doing. It runs on batteries, and it sits flat so you can put it anywhere. Game. Changer.
- Lotion, Chapstick and Advil
- Snacks: Because even though you’re not pregnant anymore, you’re still eating for two!
- Water bottle: Make it a big one. Or get two. Trust me. You’ll be thirsty.
- Entertainment: Take advantage of these quiet hours and do something that you find relaxing and can look forward to. Read a book or a magazine, start watching a new TV series, or check out my feed on Instagram. 😉
- Nursing tank top
- Heat pad
- Ice pack: Keep these handy if you’re still sore from, oh I don’t know, giving birth to a human being! 🙂
- Blanket, burp cloth and pacifier for baby
- Reusable nursing pads
- Lanolin: For sore nipples
- Soothies: These are great, but before you buy any, ask a nurse at the hospital if they have some they could give you. I actually didn’t have to buy any Lanolin or Soothies this time around because I stocked up during my hospital stay.
- Disposable nursing pads: I bought a box of these for the first week or two so I wouldn’t have an emergency situation if I couldn’t do laundry and wash the reusable ones. Plus, they’re just handy to stick in your purse, the diaper bag, your pumping bag, etc.
Now all that’s left is to find a basket big enough to fit everything in, pack it all up, and find a spot for your newly organized breastfeeding supplies.
So what do you think? I hope I’ve been able to help you get organized. I’d love see your nursing hangout or your favorite breastfeeding supplies. Just follow me on Instagram and tag me in your photo.
Breastfeeding can be hard, but it’s so much easier when you’ve got a strong community of support. I hope I’ve been able to be a small part of that support community today. Good luck, mama!
Love it? Pin it for later.
